On January 25th, 2014 I had the pleasure of shooting a benefit concert featuring blues guitarist & singer, Davy Knowles. Davy was playing at the annual Goodwill Gathering, hosted by the Quick Impressions Group. Quick Impressions is a printing company in Addison, Il. and the concert was held at their factory. About 200+ guests were in attendance for the evening. Davy Knowles was the founding member of Back Door Slam, but now tours as a solo artist. He’s a phenomenal guitarist, and his chops were on display this evening as he performed two 1-hour sets all on acoustic guitar. Rick Smolke from Quick Impressions Group hired a professional AV company for sound & lights, and the sound was awesome. I was shooting solo that night so I set up my primary camera as a lock-down on tripod in front of the stage, and used a second hand-held camera to capture close-up’s from a variety of different angles. It turned out great. To date, I’ve edited and posted about 10 videos from that evening on You Tube. The finished product will be a 90-minute “unplugged” concert featuring both Davy Knowles originals and covers of his favorite artists including John Hiatt, Jackson Browne, Paul Simon and others.

Here’s a two-song table-setter that will give you a good idea of how special the evening was: Davy Knowles at the Goodwill Gathering
